FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
Dear NJI Colleague,
It is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to you on behalf of the NetJets Association of Shared Aircraft Pilots (NJASAP) Executive Board. The Association’s mid-September receipt of NetJets Aviation, Inc.’s (NJA) Initial Integration Notice has signaled the start of a very exciting time – one that will culminate with a single transportation system that allows you and your peers to take full advantage of the premier collective bargaining agreement in the fractional ownership segment of the aviation industry. We greatly anticipate the day when NJA and NJI professionals share membership in NJASAP to form one of the largest independent labor organizations in the world.
As the integration process begins to move forward, we strongly encourage you to read all communication that you received from NJASAP, to visit the Integration web area of our web site, and to participate in message board-based discussions. Keeping current on integration-related news is very important as this process directly affects you career, and we want to ensure you are provided with timely, accurate information that keeps you in-the-know about the merger and its progress.
You are also urged to submit questions, concerns and feedback to the NJASAP Integration Team. Led by long time Union advocate and Steward Capt. Brian Ward, the team is comprised of Union subject matter experts and staff who have been given the resources to provide timely assistance to you and your colleagues; do not hesitate to use the online feedback forms to ask questions or to e-mail the team directly. To reiterate, NJASAP is committed to ensuring you are included in this process.
Whether the integration is completed quickly with relative ease or the process proves challenging and lengthy, NJASAP will facilitate the flow of bidirectional communication that keeps all stakeholders updated on the merger’s status. Our Association was structured to allow democratically elected pilot leaders to protect and enhance the interests of the men and women with whom they share the cockpit each and every day, and the NJA/NJI Integration is the perfect opportunity to carry out the Association’s principal objective. Once again, we look forward to beginning a journey that will ultimately end in a win-win scenario for NJI, NJA and NJASAP.
Fraternally,
Capt. Mark Luthi
NJASAP President
Editor's Note: This letter was amended Feb. 9, 2009, to reflect the Gulfstream Pilot Action Committee's dissolution. In early September, committee members contacted NJASAP in an effort to cultivate a mutually advantageous partnership. In the short time we worked together, we found that we shared the common goal of ensuring a smooth transition that benefits all stakeholders. The relationships that were established with committee organizers, who we found to be dedicated, passionate pilot advocates, will continue throughout the process.
